Center Console Insurance: What Offshore Anglers Should Know

By Nymble Insurance LLC · Published · 2 min read

A center console fishing boat is often worth most of its value in its engines and electronics, and it is used offshore, so insurance terms such as navigation limits, motor coverage and electronics limits deserve a close read.

Where the value sits

On many center consoles, twin or triple outboards represent a large share of the total value, followed by electronics such as chartplotters, radar and fish finders. Make sure the policy values and lists each.

Offshore range

Policies define the waters where you are covered. Confirm that the area you actually fish, including trips to the Keys, Gulf Stream waters or the Bahamas, is inside it.

What to ask

Liability

Guests aboard and other boaters nearby create liability exposure. Ask about the liability limit and medical payments. Our page on engines and electronics has a longer checklist.
